Dom Perignon Three Faces Lunch at Palais Coburg, Vienna

Our very exclusive lunch-experience began within the Yellow Salon of the Palais Coburg, where a live pianist accompanied the hosts as they greeted guests with their first glass of Dom Perignon, of course. The first course was also served on a beautifully decorated, flower adorned table kept in white colours to go hand in hand with the opulent design of these historic interiors. We were fortunate enough to be seated next to the owner of Le Crue, Comptoir de Champagne, Vienna's most renowned champagne specialist retailer, who also offers extensive champagne tastings to discerning clients. We were told that an exclusive glass of champagne must be served within a hand-blown glass, and that one must spin the conetnts of the glass lightly to ensure that as much fizz as possible escapes the champagne prior to drinking. A rule of thumb is - the less fizz, the better the champagne! Our starter consisted of an oyster served with a harmonious Dom Pérignon Vintage 2006.

For our second course, we were moved into the interiors of Silvio Nickol's award winning restaurant located on the second floor of the Palais Coburg. Here, we enjoyed a main course of delicious beef served to accompany the Dom Pérignon P2 1998 – a strong and energetic vintage.

As the grand finale, to enjoy our dessert, we were taken underground into the Palais Coburg's renowned Kasematten, where we were greeted by a beautiful table set in black cloth and adorned with red and pink flowers with dimmed pink and red lighting as well as accompanying wall projections and dancers. Here, we were served the vintage Rosé 2004, which is mysterious and unexplicable. We were greeted by the chef himself who held a short speech to welcome us.
