A Weekend in Paris

June 02, 2017 - Hotspot, Travel

Even when it is just for a weekend. Paris is a dream come true and always the right travel destination. No matter if it is for a shopping trip with your best friend, an arts and culture visit with your mother or simply romantiv holidays with your loved one. But truth be told, every travel requires one question: where to stay? Especially in Paris the answer is rather difficult since the luxury hotel industry is on awhole different level and leaves no wish unfulfilled. We decided on a romantic, traditional hotel with views of the Eiffel Tower and remarkable cuisine.

The Shangri-La Hotel Paris already welcomes you with impeccable service and the most stunning lobby. Its elegant façade brings to mind its legacy as the former home of Napoleon Bonaparte’s grandnephew, Prince Roland Bonaparte. Attentive staff and a pleasantly discreet check-in ensure that you receive the royal treatment right from the start.

In the room, commanding views of the Eiffel Tower and the River Seine hold you transfixed. The old-world elegance of the room, lovingly adorned with the fine work of craftsmen, is mirrored in the city that lies just below.

But let us not forget the culinary treasures. We had the pleasure of eating at Shang Palace. Originally inspired by Southeast China's culinary traditions, the restaurant offers authentic Chinese cuisine made by Chef Samuel Lee. The venue offers a main room and one private dining room that was named for the Tang dynasty. We had such a delicious dinner, but my favourite was the delicious lobster.

After dinner we just went up to our room looking at the lit-up Eiffel Tower in the dark night. Such a beautiful sight, which we still cannot believe we got to experience.

The next day we got to experience the city with its wonderful sights and shopping streets, of course. Everyone may know the Avenue des Champs Elysées with its luxury boutiques and and spacious avenue. Walking along Champs Elysées you will eventually end up at the Louvre. From then on, one should simply walk along the streets and small cafés and simply enjoy the city. For a true Paris experience, you cannot miss Montmartre. It is a large hill in the heart of the city and the artistic district. You will forget time and space in this wonderful area. Paris is just simply a true beauty.
